This section contains information about creating a Prefix in your Outbound Settings and describes the options available. Prefixes are rules that help you decide how to handle different types of calls.
A Prefix is a logical container that allows you to assign and treat calls with certain features. Prefixes let you group and control call traffic. Use Prefixes to apply different Compliance Profiles, Routing Paths, Rates, and other parameters, such as AI Numbers and Call Recording.
Prefix Option | What it Does |
|---|---|
How To Clone a Prefix | In order to clone a Prefix, simply select the menu next to the prefix drop-down and click on 'Clone'. |
View Traffic for That Prefix |
You may view the traffic for a Prefix by simply selecting the menu next to the prefix drop-down and clicking on 'View Prefix Requests'. |
Add New Route | This is where you may enter the IPs you would like us to accept requests from for this Prefix. Think of it as a firewall. If the IP is not listed and a request is received for that Prefix, then the request will be rejected. |
Compliance Profile | You may assign diffrent Compliance Profiles to your Prefix. This allows you to reject calls based on Federal Do Not Call, Internal Do Not Call, State Do Not Call, and others. Please note a valid SAN number is required to use these services. |
Channels (Ports) | This is how many simultaneous requests should be supported for a Prefix. Think of this as how many telephone lines can be used at the same time for this Prefix. |
Calls Per Second (CPS) | Requests will be limited on per second basis. Think of this as a throttle. |
How many times should the same subscriber be called (24 hour period)? | By default, the Portal limits calls to the same telephone number to three (3) times in a 24 hour basis. This is done in order to protect from accidently calling the same person more than three times. You may adjust this level per your needs. |
Block calls to these states | You may select to block calls to certain states in order to comply with licensing or regulatory requirements. Please note this feature is based on the area code being called. |
Rate Plan (If any) | You may assign a rate deck (pricing) for this prefix in order to bill your client for their traffic. |
Providers to Use | If you have configured other VoIP Provider Accounts in the Portal, you may specify which providers you would like to route this Prefix's calls through. Calls are routed using Least Call Routing (LCR). |
Designated Schedule | You may specify a schedule for the treatment of requests for this Prefix. If a request is received outside of the designated window, then said request will be rejected. |
Use STIR/SHAKEN? | Whether or not to assign a token to this call. Please note if there is a token already assigned to the request, the token will not be replaced. |
Use Numbers Management Platform? | Also known as the AI Numbers platform, use this feature if you would like to use the 'set it and forget it' feature for caller ID management. This feature does have an additional cost. |
Assign Dedicated Repository | This option is only available if you have activated 'Use Numbers Management Platform'. You may allocate a dedicated pool of numbers for this prefix. Otherwise, a general pool is used. This feature does have an additional cost. |
Use Health Monitoring? | Health Monitoring will monitor, your traffic, in real-time for Spam labels. If a number is found to be unhealthy, then it is automatically removed from your repository(ies). This feature does have an additional cost. |
